Dubai and Abu Dhabi have turned themselves into a winter-sun theme park destination. In Dubai the headline attraction is the Burj Khalifa, and the ticket you choose matters: off-peak general admission to levels 124 and 125 is a fraction of the price of the sunset slot, and the level 148 lounge is a different experience again. Book a dated time slot before you travel, because the popular slots sell out days ahead.
Abu Dhabi's Yas Island, about an hour from Dubai, has four parks on one site: Ferrari World, home to the world's fastest roller coaster, Warner Bros. World, a fully indoor park across six themed lands, Yas Waterworld, and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. Multi-park tickets covering two, three or four parks are the way to buy if you are staying more than a day.
Everything here is indoor or shaded for a reason. If you are travelling between May and September, plan water parks and indoor parks for the middle of the day.
