The UK's largest theme park, in Staffordshire, with coasters that matter: Nemesis Reborn, The Smiler, Wicker Man, Oblivion, Galactica and Rita. For younger children CBeebies Land is a park within the park and one of the best things in the UK for under-sixes. The gardens and the ruined house give it a scale no other British park has.
Advance dated tickets are far cheaper than the gate. The park is huge; the Skyride cable car saves your legs. Queues on the big five can be an hour on peak days, so arrive for opening and do the far end of the park first. Scarefest in October adds mazes and late opening.
The best theme park in Britain for a mixed-age family. Check the Midland Pass if you are visiting the area for more than a day.
