Which Walt Disney World ticket should I buy?
7-Day versus 14-Day Magic Ticket, what Memory Maker is worth, and why the UK ticket beats buying at the gate.
If you are flying from the UK, there are really only two Walt Disney World tickets worth considering: the 7-Day Magic Ticket and the 14-Day Magic Ticket. Both are sold only to UK residents, only before you travel, and both include things that Americans pay extra for at the gate.
What both Magic Tickets include
- Admission to all four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom
- Park Hopping, so you can start the day in one park and finish in another
- Both water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, subject to seasonal closures
- Memory Maker, Disney's unlimited photo download package, normally about $210
- A validity window longer than the ticket length: 7-day tickets are valid over 10 days, 14-day tickets over 18 days
7 days or 14 days?
The price gap is usually small, often under £30 per person. That sounds odd until you realise the 14-day ticket exists to make a two-week holiday the default. If your trip is 8 nights or longer, buy the 14-day ticket without a second thought. You will not use every day, but you buy the freedom to have a lazy pool day on Tuesday and go back to Magic Kingdom on Wednesday.
The 7-day ticket makes sense for a one-week trip, or for a longer trip where Disney is only part of the plan and Universal or the coast will take the rest.
Is Memory Maker actually worth it?
Yes, and more than people expect. Every PhotoPass photographer shot, every on-ride photo from Space Mountain to Tower of Terror, and the "Magic Shots" with hidden characters all come as unlimited downloads. Families routinely come home with several hundred photos. Buying Memory Maker separately costs more than the difference between a 7-day and 14-day ticket.
2026 or 2027 dates?
Tickets are sold by visit year. The 2027 ticket is often priced slightly lower or the same, and buying early locks the price. Both sellers let you hold a ticket with a small deposit, so there is little reason to wait if your dates are fixed.
What about Lightning Lane?
Lightning Lane is Disney's paid queue-skipping system and it is not included in any UK ticket. You buy it day by day inside the My Disney Experience app once you arrive, if you want it. Most families use it on two or three busy days rather than every day.
Should I buy a combo instead?
If you are definitely doing Universal or SeaWorld too, look at the combo tickets. They bundle the 14-day Disney ticket with the other parks and usually beat the total of buying separately. Our combo guide walks through each one.
